As the nights draw in and the days get cooler, there's a little magic in the air at Montreal Associates. No, we're not just over-eager for Christmas; we're waiting in anticipation to find out if we will win one of the nine awards we have been nominated for this year

It's been an incredible year for us, celebrating 40 years of specialism in technology and IT recruiting, and so award season allows us to reflect upon that success, to celebrate our victories and to continue to strive for excellence.

Four decades of expertise

Montreal Associates was formed in 1978 and so this year marks our 40th birthday. Since the very beginning, we've specialised in recruitment for IT and Technology roles, which is why we are particularly pleased by the nomination for best Technology & IT Specialist team at the Marketing and Digital Recruitment Awards. We have always fought to be a leader within our industry and have achieved success over the past four decades through continued development and constant dedication to our specialist field. This nomination feels particularly timely and it is an honour to be considered.

Inclusion for everyone

Last year, we were given the Diversity and Inclusion Award from the APSCO Awards for Excellence, and we are thrilled to be nominated again this year. We pride ourselves on the fact that our workforce is represented by 13 nationalities, 90 per cent of whom speak more than one language, a 50-50 gender split across all levels of the business and the number of female consultants progressing into senior roles is at its highest in our history.

This awards, in particular, means a lot to us as it provides a clear distinction between Diversity and Inclusion. For us, diversity is not about filling a quota, it is about creating an environment where each person feels there is parity with each other, no matter their differences. To receive a nomination for an award we have previously won is a reminder to keep striving for excellence and to always think "this is great, how can we be better?"

Together, everyone achieves more

We always want our staff to feel proud to be a part of Montreal Associates, and so being nominated for awards is an excellent way to validate our success as an organisation. Excellent employees make for an excellent team, so we are delighted to be able to celebrate success on an individual success as well, with our Head of Marketing Faye nominated for Marketing Star of the Year at the Marketing and Digital Recruitment Awards and the Dotties Awards.

Faye has now moved on to pastures new, but she was an integral part of the team here and we would all be thrilled to see her win this award. Being nominated for awards enables our staff to stop and appreciate all they have achieved, and we can all share in the recognition that comes with a nomination.

Checking out the competition

Although our headquarters are just a stone's throw from the River Thames, we're proud to be a very international company and a lot of our work takes place in mainland Europe.

Awards season provides us with an excellent opportunity to take stock of the UK market and to remind the industry that we are very much still active in the UK, so it's a great time to network with other recruitment companies, swap stories and discuss trends. It also gives us the opportunity to evaluate our success, recognise what we've been doing well and address where we need to do more. It's that process which allows us to continually move Montreal Associates forward and position ourselves at the forefront of the industry.
