- Backend systems are built in Scala and run on Google Cloud Platform.
- Using GCP services such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Spanner.
- The platform is composed of a large-scale, containerized microservices architecture, with 200+ services primarily deployed on Google Cloud Kubernetes.
- We are deeply data-driven, leveraging tools like Amplitude, BigQuery, and Datadog to inform decisions and monitor system health.
Day-to-Day
- Design, build, and review code for our backend applications, contributing directly to core product functionality.
- Iterate on features using Scala (prior experience is not required) and a broad set of GCP technologies.
- New engineers ship production code within days and continue iterating in an agile development environment.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, you'll collaborate closely with other engineers and Product Managers to maintain strong alignment.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of experience building scalable backend systems and has a deep understanding of distributed systems, including how architectural decisions impact performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Comfortable working with minimal guidance, proactive in navigating uncertainty and ambiguity, and adaptable in the face of rapidly evolving goals.
- You've also demonstrated success in cross-functional environments, collaborating effectively with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, and other highly skilled partners.
